Rochelle Humes next in line to join ITV’s Loose Women?

The Saturdays singer has been rumoured to be the newest addition to the Loose Women panel.

Well well well, the shakeup continues for the Loose Women team with the new ITV boss still unhappy with the makeup of the panel as it currently stands. Apparently claiming the team was too ‘old, white, and posh’ and was still not pulling in the viewing figures required to make the show a true success or to realise it to its true potential.

It’s true that Loose Women has always been the kind of TV programme that appeals to a certain type of person. It’s a real marmatie programme with many dedicated followers of the show who enjoy the dynamic of the outspoken women and the interviews with celebrities and notable people from various backgrounds. However as much as it may have a solid fan base there are also those who see it more as an old fashioned programme with no real depth or credibility and when reduced down to the bare bones it is simply a bunch of women sitting around gossiping and drinking tea.

This is exactly the kind of image that new ITV boss, Helen Warner wants to change. So far she has sacked a couple of the long standing members of the team Denise Welch and Carol Griffin and recruited young, credible superstars such as Jamelia who debuted on the show last month.

Rochelle Williams is an obvious choice if this is the new direction the show will be heading in. At 24 she would be the youngest member of the panel, and indeed the youngest ever panel member since Loose Women began. She is also very current being part of one of the most successful girl groups in the music business right now. The Saturdays.

Denise Van Outen and Angela Griffin have also been names that have cropped up in the rumour mill to make the show a more diverse, youthful and interesting programme.

The changes have been widely reported in national newspapers such as the Sun who have also made claims that Sally Lindsay, Janet Street Porter and Linda Robson are having their contracts amended so they appear less frequently on the show.

ITV said: “We are talking to a number of potential Loose Women for 2014 as part of our plan to broaden the pool of panellists but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
