TV has announced that it is to field drama heavyweights Broadchurch and Lucan to tempt Sky viewers into subscribing to its new pay-TV channel, ITV Encore.
The new channel launches on Sky from 9 June as a showcase for the networks contemporary drama output and is significant for being the commercial broadcasters first foray into the realm of pay TV since the ignominious collapse of ITV Digital.
ITV director of television, Peter Fincham, said: “Drama is a genre that we know audiences love and we have worked with some fantastic talent, both on and off screen, to build a really strong stable of series and serials over the years. ITV Encore will give viewers the opportunity to revisit, or indeed discover, a wealth of ITV drama from recent times.”
Other shows to grace the station include Mrs Biggs, The Ice Cream Girls, Whitechapel and DCI Banks.
