There have been a lot of speculations lately about who is going to be the new judges on the panel for the X Factor competition, especially with Tulisa leaving. Names like Robbie Williams or Cheryl Cole have been going around but nothing is known yet. With all this going on, there is some talk about bringing the legendary David Bowie on the UK show. Simon Cowell himself has declared that the iconic rocker is the one person he would like to bring on the show if he could.
I think if I could have anyone on The X Factor it would be David Bowie. It’s no secret I’ve asked him, and he hasn’t said yes yet, but I’ll keep extending the invitation. Why Bowie? He’s a legend.
He’s a great songwriter, he has massive influence on music today and he’s 100 per cent credible. I’m a fan. Not just of his music but of him, the man. He’s cool. Most of us aren’t. Bowie is.
Cowell could have some hope because David Bowie is one of the major artists who support the X Factor show, unlike many other music legends. He gave permission for the contestants to cover his legendary song “Heroes” in the 2010 edition, with all the winnings going to charity. But taking into consideration that Bowie is a music legend, his stardom is at a different level than who we see on the panel, it’s least likely for him to accept. Bowie just launched last month a new song called “Where are we now?”, which was a surprise for the whole world, because nobody new he’s planning to return in the spotlight. A new album is set to appear next month, being his first in ten years and even though Bowie declared that he’s not going to tour again, there is a bit of hope in the music industry that he will change his mind.
To be fair, it would be weird to see the one and only David Bowie taking Tulisa’s spot on the X Factor panel.
