Your Face Sounds Familiar Will Premiere Later This Year

Yet another music performance reality contest is on the slate.  ITV has announced that “Your Face Sounds Familiar” will premiere later this year.  This new contest show will feature well-known celebrities that have to mimic a well-known musical artist as a panel of judges decides their fate. This is a new twist on the music contest theme made famous by X Factor and now The Voice.  ITV is the leader in this market.

Your Face Sounds Familiar

Paddy McGuinness and Alesha Dixon have been announced as the host of ITV’s new entertainment series, Your Face Sounds Familiar.

The show – which is based on Endemol’s popular format – will premiere later this year, and will see celebrities challenged to perform as different iconic music artists every week before a panel of judges, including Julian Clary and Emma Bunton.

Each contestant is awarded points which will be scored on a leader board – the one with the most points at the end of each show will receive a cash prize for a charity of their choice with a further grand prize pot for the series champion.

To be given a live show on Saturday night TV is a massive honour. Hairbrushes at the ready, for a proper good old Saturday night sing along.

— Paddy McGuinness

McGuinness said: “To be given a live show on Saturday night TV is a massive honour. Hairbrushes at the ready, for a proper good old Saturday night sing along. It’s an honour to be in the same company as Ant & DecDermot O’Leary and lest we not forget, Russ Abbot.”

Dixon added: “This show is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see their transformations and spectacular performances. I know that Paddy and I are going to have our work cut out keeping them all in line!”

Commissioning Editor for Comedy & Entertainment at ITV, Claire Zolkwer, said “Our viewers can expect incredible transformations, great music, unforgettable performances and a lot of laughs in this hilarious new show where just about anything can happen.”

You won’t be able to compete in this competition but it will be fun to watch celebrities trying their best to impersonate famous singers. This is a lay-back and laugh kind of a show and what will make it or break it, in my opinion, is how the judges interact with each other and the contestants.  Let’s see how this new show develops!
