X Factor Adds Another Show to Combat Strictly Come Dancing’s Popularity

X Factor may be in trouble beyond repair as Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole (Cheryl Fernandez-Versini) have not had the viewer-drawing effect they envisioned. X-Factor lost another 200,000 viewers this week prompting Simon Cowell to add a third weekly show to try to prop up the viewings. Strictly Come Dancing is a worthy competitor but Simon isn’t laying down just yet.

X Factor 2014 Judges

Simon Cowell’s return to The X Factor is fast becoming a TV turn-off.

The music mogul’s comeback, along with former judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, has failed to turn the tide of shrinking audiences, after it was revealed the ITV show lost another 200,000 viewers in a week.

A total of 8.5million tuned in for Saturday’s show – down from the 9.5million it pulled in when it launched two weeks ago. And more bad news looms for Cowell and co – as the show will go head-to-head with BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing from September 26.

Strictly has already claimed first blood in this year’s ratings war when its curtain-raiser episode drew 800,000 more viewers than The X Factor when the shows clashed last Sunday.

Even Cowell himself acknowledged the defeat to his BBC rivals, tweeting: ‘So the numbers are in. Strictly peak 9.4. X Factor peak 9.2. Round one to them. Such a shame they were both on at the same time!’

Simon Cowell is ramping up his X Factor machine and will be airing THREE shows in ONE week in order to beat rival Strictly Come Dancing in the ratings war.

Fans of The X Factor will get to see their favourite judges Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell, Mel B and Louis Walsh on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at the end of the month in a special triple-bill for the boot camp section of the show.

Strictly hit TV screens with its launch show on Sunday night and after winning the first ratings battle, Si is pulling out the big guns to not lose the second battle too.

As Strictly returns with the first of its live shows as the likes of Mark Wright, Pixie Lott and Thom Evans take to the dancefloor on Friday 26 September, The X Factor will also air at 9pm on the same night as well as its usual Saturday and Sunday slots

The rating war continues between X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, and Simon Cowell is up for the battle. He’s doing everything he can to prop the show up to gain new viewers, but his competition is tough. Let’s see if Simon’s moves count enough next week.
