Stand By Your Man This Father’s Day

ITV is goinig to “Stand by Your Man”  this Father’s Day to raise awareness of prostate cancer. Although major advancements have been made in detecting and treating prostate cancer, one person an hour still dies from the disease in the U.K.  This show will help remind people that more work is still needed and that men need to be checked early and regularly. Found early, prostate cancer can be treated much more effectively.

ITV says Stand By Your Man on Fathers' DayITV is asking you to Stand By Your Man in time for Father’s Day this Sunday. At least one man dies every hour in the UK from prostate cancer. ITV in conjunction with Prostate Cancer UK is raising awareness of the issue at a time when our minds are focused on the most important men in our lives.

To help encourage men to get checked and alert both men and women to this serious illness, ITV will be screening a number of special programmes. This Morning has already had presenter and musician Richard Blackwood get a check-up live on the show to encourage other African and African Caribbean men to follow suit (they are three times more likely to suffer from the cancer). On Father’s Day, ITV4 will screen an 18-minute film entitled Father’s Day. It stars big names such as Charles Dance, Ray Winstone, John Simm and Tamzin Outhwaite – all supporters of Prostate Cancer UK.

Most men will get prostate cancer in their  lives, but many get it when they are older and it is not as life threatening as with younger men. We stand by ITV in supporting prostate awareness and we hope you’ll tune in to see their coverage this Father’s day.
