Spice up the panel

Even though she just signed to be a new judge on America’s Got Talent, and already moved there, Mel B is still in the “talks” with Simon Cowell for the X Factor UK panel. The show’s boss really liked how she did as a guest judge on the panel last year, even if her schedule on the American show could trouble the negotiations.

A source told the press today that Mel did fantastically and proved a big draw on the ratings front. She is just what the show needs to liven it up – fresh and bolshy and opinionated – and Simon is a big fan. An initial deal has been agreed – it’s now a case of trying to make Mel’s AGT schedule fit around The X Factor.

Mel B will replace Sharon Osbourne’s place on the America’s Got Talent panel this year, joining Howard Stern and Howie Mandel. The former Spice Girl will take part in the talent show’s auditions in Los Angeles this month. The show was initially placed in Los Angeles, but moved to New York for Howard Stern’s benefit, who replaced Piers Morgan.

The same source declared that Simon loves trying people out on his shows, Mel’s already been a judge on X Factor Australia and it’s too far for her to keep taking the kids. Mel B was booed on her first day of auditions for X Factor because she commented after an 82 year old pensioner Louis Dilke, who performed Adele’s My Love, saying she felt like falling asleep. Is this why Simon likes her so much?

Sharon Osbourne left the show in July, because of the way NBC executives treated her son Jack, after his multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

The X Factor competition faced a huge blow in the ratings last year, and that’s why they’re trying to spice things up for this new season. Simon Cowell was in particularly unhappy with Tulisa’s performance as a judge, and apparently she paid the price for that being recently axed from the show. Despite all the rumours that go around about the panel, a spokesperson for the X Factor show said that: Every name mentioned in connection with X Factor is speculation right now.
