Simon Cowell: He wants it his way!

Simon Cowell would like to go away in style, because apparently he wants to have the final word even when he’s dead, by playing Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” at his funeral.

Simon got all sentimental during the Birmingham auditions of the Britain’s Got Talent competition,  when one of the contestants sang the classic tune. So he said to his fellow colleagues Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams: I’ve decided I’d like it to be played at my funeral. It would be appropriate.

Well, if you take a look at the lyrics of the song you could say that it kind of fits him: “I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption”. Or :  “There were times, I’m sure you knew, when I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out, I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way.” And when he makes mean, harsh comments to contestants you could say that: “To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels, the record shows I took the blows and did it my way”.

Simon Cowell is a declared fan of Frank Sinatra, the legendary American crooner, and he actually requested a hologram of the singer for his 50th birthday party. “My Way” was also the soundtrack of a tribute movie made when Cowell left the American Idol show.

It turns out that Simon is not so original in his request because Sinatra’s song is one of the most played tunes at funerals in the UK, with one in seven ceremonies to feature it.

Frank Sinatra- My Way

Simon felt a bit too oversharing during those auditions because he started talking about childhood when a contestant appeared in a comic book character. He told everyone how he liked to wear Spider-Man and Captain Scarlet pyjamas when he was a kid. But he returned to being his old Mr.Nasty-self , when David Walliams received a motorbike made out of balloons by a magician, and he popped one of the them. David replied infuriated: You have shown everyone your true colours by spoiling the fun.

Don’t worry David, we all know his true colours!
