Scottish Schoolgirl Wins Bronze Becomes Global Star

A young Scottish schoolgirl named Erraid Davies has won the bronze medal in the Queen’s Baton Relay at the Commonwealth games. The exuberant and beautiful young girl has proven once again that solid goals, combined with hard work and persistence, yields the fruit of victory. Erraid Davies has become a global superstar because of her accomplishment and she deserves every bit of the accolades she is receiving.

Erraid Davies didn’t tell her school friends where she was going this summer.

It was only when they spotted her in the Queens Baton relay that they found out she would be competing at the Commonwealth Games here in Glasgow.

Now their classmate is a global star after winning a bronze medal, and the hearts of millions, in the para-sport swimming on Sunday night. Her name trending on Twitter worldwide.

The 13 year old from the Shetland Isles says she came into the Games just hoping to record a personal best – well she did that and became Scotland’s youngest ever medal winner for good measure.

When I met the teenager in the city centre this morning she was somewhat overwhelmed by all the attention, she kept twisting her medal in her hands – almost trying to make it seem real.

Erraid was advised by doctors to take up swimming after being born with a hip defect. By the age of four she was doing lengths in the pool but was still unable to walk properly.
