Real-life Couples Set to Dance on Ice

This year’s Dancing on Ice will feature real-life couples.  That’s right, real-life couples are set to dance on ice this January.  David Seaman will be back. The former football goal keeper finished 4th in the 206 Dancing on Ice series, and he’ll be back as well.  This year’s Dancing on Ice, entering its final year, will be a bit different from previous years. It will be fun to watch as it always has been.

David Seaman has been paired with his off-screen partner Frankie Poultney for the final series of Dancing On Ice

David Seaman will skate with his real-life partner Frankie Poultney for the last ever series of Dancing On Ice.

The former England goalkeeper came fourth in the first series of the ITV skating show in 2006, but was not paired with Frankie at the time as she did not join until the second series. They began dating in 2009.

Sam Attwater, who won the show in 2011, has also been paired with his real-life partner Vicky Ogden, who was also not his professional partner when he first competed in the series.

Former champions Suzanne Shaw and Hayley Tamaddon will reunite with original partners Matt Evers and Daniel Whiston.

This year’s winner Beth Tweddle has been paired with Lukasz Rozycki and Zaraah Abrahams will skate with Andy Buchanan.

Bonnie Langford was originally going to partner Mark Hanretty, but he has since been replaced by Andrei Lipanov due to a shoulder injury.

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter has been paired with Sylvain Longchambon – the ex-boyfriend of her co-star Jennifer Metcalfe.

Sylvain dated Jennifer after they were paired together in the sixth series of the show in 2011. But they split at Christmas 2012 after he fell for Corrie’s Samia Ghadie when they were partners on the last series.

Series two champion Kyran Bracken will perform with Nina Ulanova, Gareth Gates is with Brianne Delcourt and 2009 winner Ray Quinn will dance with original partner Maria Filippov.

Todd Carty will skate with Alexandra Schauman, Gary Lucy has been paired with Katie Stainsby and Joe Pasquale’s partner will be Robin Johnstone.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will return to train the celebrities, and mark the 30th anniversary of their Olympic Bolero win, with Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley back to host the show.

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV on Sunday, January 5 at 6.15pm.

I watched the first series in which David Seaman competed on Dance on Ice, and I have to admit I was a bit judgmental.  I mean, what is a pro footballer doing in a ‘ladies’ sport anyway. I was biased but then I got to thinking about it more and found out skating is a very challenging sport for both men and women.  Why shouldn’t a pro sport star get involved in it?  Good luck to David Seaman.
