Lulu Kicks off Commonwealth Closing Ceremony and Kyle Ends It

The Commonwealth games came to a close yesterday but it went out with a bang. The Scottish 70’s star Lulu kicked off the closing ceremony and the Australian star Kyle closed it out. Two wonderful singers added the final touch to the summer’s games, sending everyone home smiling.

Lulu returned to the stage to perform her hit “Shout” while fellow Scot Dougie Maclean sang his classic Caledonia, a song which has grown to become a common part of Scottish culture and an unofficial national anthem.

Kylie whipped the crowd into a spin with seven of her classic hits as she closed what has been dubbed the ‘best ever’ Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The pint-sized pop princess changed costume twice as she performed to the 40,000-strong crowd and up to 8 million viewers at home.

After the show she tweeted she had an “amazing night” and said she it was an “honour to be there.”

Scotland may have said farewell but all eyes will be on Australia when they host the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast in 2018.

The ceremony rounded off with fireworks and a mass performance of Auld Lang Syne.

Lulu sung as well as she’s always done and Kylie brough the crowd to it’s feet. Some say the closing ceremony was more exciting than the Commonwealth Games themselves. At any rate, the athletes were just as excited as everyone else and went home fully satisfied.
