Justin Timberlake might be next year’s host at the Oscar

It seems that after this year’s disaster at the Oscars, named Seth MacFarlane, the producers of the Academy Awards still want to bring some appeal to the young generation. Rumours are already going around that the next host will be Justin Timberlake. The singer/actor made a good impression with the producers after he was the host of the Saturday Night Live show.

The Oscar honchos are in discussions with Mr. SexyBack already, a source talked with The National Enquirer magazine. Getting Justin to host would now be a huge coup for the Oscars. He’d been considered before, but they always thought he was too young and not seasoned enough. Now, he’s the frontrunner for the job after showing he knows how to sing, dance, host, and improvise on the spot.

The Saturday Night Live episode which he hosted was a praised by the critics and reached its top ratings for over a year, with 8.4 million viewers watching it. This was Justin’s fifth time as a host.

If he gets the job at the Oscars he will follow the steps of Seth MacFarlane, who was highly criticized for his offensive jokes and song numbers, like We Saw Your Boobs, where he listed almost all the actresses who went topless on-screen, leaving the leading ladies present in the theatre mortified. But Seth was also praised by many, with one filmmaker declaring: I don’t blame Seth. He basically did his stock and trade. Why hire the guy if you didn’t want his brand of humour? I actually thought, as a fan of Family Guy, that he was pretty restrained.

All in all it seems that this is Justin’s year for sure. He just released an amazing album which is quickly becoming no.1, has an upcoming tour starring Jay-Z and he’s basically everywhere. Now even at the Oscars.
