Jonathan Ross Chat Show Will Continue

Despite its not-so-hot ratings, the Jonathan Ross chat show will continue. Jonathan signed an extension to his chat show contract this week.  Ross left the BBC, which paid him a record £6 million per year, after he recorded obscene messages on the answer phone of Andrew Sachs, the elderly star of Fawlty Towers. His ITV chat show won fewer than 2 million viewers for one episode and was beaten every week by Graham Norton, who took his spot at the BBC.

Jonathan Ross has extended his deal with ITV to continue hosting his own chat show on the channel.

The BBC reports that the new contract runs until the end of 2014 and will see Wossy front the show for two stints during that calendar year, following a 10-part series running in autumn 2013. All are due to continue featuring live music slots.

Ross joined the channel in 2010 after leaving the BBC and this marks his second contract extension with ITV.

ITV’s commissioning editor for comedy entertainment Claire Zolkwer said: “Jonathan Ross is a firm part of Saturday nights on ITV.

“We’re delighted that he will be returning again in 2014, with more great guests, live music, and one-on-one interviews.”

Are you a Jonathan Ross fan? I enjoy his personality and chat subjects and I’m sure plenty of you do. But is he really that good for a season extension?  What do you think?
