Jeremy Kyle Signs £2 Million Contract to Stay with ITV

Jeremy Kyle will now become the fourth highest daytime earner in the history of ITV.  Noel Edmunds tops the list at  £3 million a year. Alan Titchmarsh is  next wit- £2.5m, followed by Phillip Schofield at £2 million. ITV’s deal with Jeremy Kyle salvages his controversial chat show for the next year. He will also work on factual documentaries for ITV.

Jeremy Kyle is about to put pen to paper on a massive new ITV contract worth £2 million a year.

The outspoken TV host, who won best daytime programme in the TV Choice awards this week, has been handed the bumper deal to expand his output for the broadcaster and work on factual documentaries as well as his chat show.

The new deal ties Kyle, 49, to ITV until 2017 and will see him make hundreds of hours of new television.

An ITV source said: “Jeremy Kyle is one of our biggest names and is joining the likes of Ant and Dec and Phillip Schofield when it comes to being well paid.

“This extension to his current contract will be signed in the next few days and shows how much bosses think of him at the channel.”

Kyle, who is married to former model Carla Germaine, has been fronting the controversial Jeremy Kyle Show on ITV since 2005.

He has doubled his salary since 2009 when he got around £1million a year.

The programme revels in relationship problems and in April he was criticised for screening an edition which breached broadcasting guidelines featuring a sobbing 17-year-old, accused by her sister of being a “crackhead” and a “slapper”.

Kyle has recently begun working on a new primetime current affairs series which is likely to be shown next year.

Jeremy Kyle is best known for The Jeremy Kyle Show, with its broken relationships, lie detector and DNA tests. It has been criticised for glorifying “broken Britain”. In January 2013, it was revealed he was recovering after treatment for testicular cancer.
