Broadchurch Encore Includes Deleted and Extended Scenes

Broadchurch finished last season with rave reviews and many fans. ITV’s Encore will show the Broadchurch finale, but will also include deleted scenes and never-seen footage, though it’s not clear weather the extra footage will be shown as part of the show or after it ends. It would be great to see the unseen footage as part of the show, right where it was intended to be.

Broadchurch Encore

The launch of ITV Encore marks the first time Broadchurch will be aired on UK TV since its dramatic series finale last April. But that’s not all… When the final episode is broadcast this Thursday (at 10:05pm), it will last 85 minutes – that’s an extra quarter of an hour (including ad breaks) of deleted and extended scenes that have never been aired on TV before, although it’s not yet clear what the footage will entail or whether it will follow on from the events of the finale.

First broadcast in March 2013, Broadchurch starred David Tennant and Olivia Colman as police duo DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller, tasked with solving the murder of young Danny Latimer who was found dead on the local beach.

Broadchurch is a British television crime drama created and written by Chris Chibnall, broadcast on ITV and produced by Kudos. It stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman. Casting was announced in June 2012, with filming commencing in Clevedon in August as well as in West Bay in Bridport.[It premiered on 4 March 2013 at 9:00pm on ITV.  In January 2013, the series was acquired by BBC America, where it was shown in the United States beginning August 7, 2013. Broadchurch’s unseen footage will cause more people to watch its Encore presentation than if it was left out. People who saw the finale may want to see it again, but fans who loved Broadchurch will definitely want to see the missing scenes. I think it’s a brilliant move by the marketing-savvy ITV executives. Will you be watching because of it?
