Britain’s Got Talent Loses 1 Million Viewers

Britain’s Got Talent fans are leaving by the droves. 1 million viewers lost in one week. Why? The fans say they were “bored to death” of the show and all the non-British acts it put on stage. Simon Cowell and the ITV producers are going to have to come up with a plan to salvage the show and make it more appealing for next year’s audience.

Billed as a popular entertainment programme, you might expect Britain’s Got Talent to be, well, entertaining.

But the show is facing a backlash from its fans after viewers branded the semi-final ‘mind-numbingly boring’.

Around a million of the programme’s followers deserted it on Tuesday night, following days of complaints about lengthy advert breaks and the number of foreign acts allowed to compete.

The episode, which saw singer James Smith and dance troupe Addict Initiative put through to the final, was watched by 7.8million viewers – more than a million less than the first semi-final on Monday.

Over the course of eight years, the likes of Susan Boyle and Ashleigh and Pudsey have found fame on the variety show.

Britain’s Got Talent is in trouble and needs some serious reconsideration. Perhaps limiting auditions to British citizens would help bring back it’s bored audience. The show has produced a number of top-notch acts, and it’s those that helped it rise to the popularity it once had.  I hope they can recover the show and give fans what they want: British talent.
